Dear friends,
After more than eleven years of helping Australians build and live in tiny houses, we want to share an important update about the future of Fred's Tiny Houses.
We have made the decision to conclude this chapter of our business and plan to cease trading on 31 December 2026. To ensure we can complete all projects to the standard our customers expect, we will be accepting final trailer orders until
1st October 2026.
This has been a deeply considered decision.
When we started Fred's Tiny Houses, our mission was to help people build homes that could liberate them from conventional mortgage servitude and the rental market. We believed that thoughtfully designed tiny houses, built for Australian conditions and capable of travelling our roads safely, could create opportunities for more free time, greater creativity, and a deeper connection to the Earth.
Over the years, that mission grew into something much bigger than we ever imagined.
Together, we have supplied more than 250 tiny house trailers, educated thousands of people through workshops, courses, consultations, articles, videos and podcasts, and worked alongside countless advocates, builders and communities to advance the tiny house movement across Australia.
Most importantly, we have had the privilege of being part of your journeys.
We have watched people build their first homes, create financial freedom, live off-grid, raise families in tiny houses, and pursue lifestyles that better reflect their values. Being trusted with such an important part of those journeys has been one of the greatest honours of our lives.
To everyone who has purchased a trailer, attended a workshop, enrolled in a course, listened to the podcast, followed us online, recommended us to a friend, or supported us in any way over the years: thank you.
Your support has made Fred's Tiny Houses what it is.
For those who have purchased access to Tiny House University, we know you may be wondering what this means for your courses. We are currently in discussions with an organisation that has expressed interest in acquiring Tiny House University and continuing to offer the flagship How to Build a Tiny House - The Australian Online Course. While discussions are ongoing and no agreement has yet been finalised, our intention is to ensure that students retain access to the education they have invested in and that this valuable resource continues to serve future tiny house builders.
For those who have been considering a trailer purchase, we encourage you to get in touch sooner rather than later. We will continue accepting trailer orders until 1 October 2026, after which we will focus on completing existing projects before closing.
Over the coming months, we will share further updates and answer any questions you may have about the transition.
For now, we simply want to say thank you.
Thank you for believing in a different way of living.
Thank you for supporting Australian tiny house innovation.
And thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey.
With gratitude,
Shannon & Fred
