ARCHITECTURE Student's First Tiny House: Lars INTERVIEW

Candid Interviews about building & living in a tiny house on wheels.

Episode 6, SEASON 3

Hi everyone,

We’ve just released the final episode of Season 3, Candid Tiny House Podcast, and I think this one will resonate deeply with anyone planning a tiny house build — especially builders with a construction backgroud.

In this episode, we sit down with Lars, who began building his tiny house on wheels at just 20 years old while studying Architecture at university. What followed was a huge learning curve involving weight limits, overbuilding, towing obstacles, moisture management, minimalism, relationships in small spaces… and discovering that building a tiny house is very different from building a regular house.

One of the most fascinating parts of the conversation was Lars reflecting on how his architecture training actually worked against him in some ways, leading him to overbuild the structure and come dangerously close to the 4.5 tonne towing limit.

But beyond the technical lessons, this episode is really about growth.

Lars speaks honestly about throwing himself into the deep end, learning by doing, and how the tiny house ultimately changed the entire trajectory of his career and life.

If you’re dreaming about building your own tiny house — or you’re already somewhere in the middle of the process — I think you’ll get a lot from this conversation.

Watch now on YouTube or listen wherever you get your podcasts.

As always, thank you for being part of this community and supporting honest conversations about tiny house building and living in Australia.
